Presentation Description

Formerly known as the Wednesday In The Park, the new “My GMA SHRM Toolbox” sessions are geared to provide HR professionals at all levels an opportunity to further their learning in the core areas of Human Resources.  The Toolbox session is meant to be a facilitated & interactive discussion to assist in this learning experience.

Are you confident your HR files will hold up to scrutiny should problems arise? Do you know what to keep and what to throw away? And, are you keeping your records in the right place? In this GMA SHRM session, you will learn:

  • What basic records you should have on hand to comply with major federal laws

  • What documents should and should not be retained in each employees file

  • Which documents must be maintained in separate files

  • How long each type of employment record must be retained

  • Where and how personnel files should be stored

  • Who should have access to the files?

This session will be beneficial to those individuals charged with the responsibility to keep records in order and/or (2) for HR compliance. It focuses on basic recordkeeping both from a system and compliance standpoint.
