Session 1

Join Alyssa as she guides you through what a Human Resource Professional needs to know on how to control workplace injuries and their impact, workplace culture, how to manage your workers compensation experience modification rate and how these components can potentially prevent employee injuries and save money.  Whether you are a new or experienced Human Resource Professional, if you have safety, training or Workers Compensation responsibilities at your workplace, this session will help you understand what it takes to have a zero accident workplace culture and how to implement it at your workplace.

Participants will learn:

  • Zero Accident Workplace Culture:  Management Support, Safety Committees, Accident Analysis/Inspection/Job Hazard Analysis, Safety Programs, Training and Accountability.
  • Workers Compensation: how the mod rate affects your premium and how to minimize your mod rate.
  • Components of a return to work program:  Written Program, Reporting Procedures, Transitional Duty Tasks, Letter to a Physician, Letter to Employees Offering Return to Work, and Return to Work Logs

Session 2

As the United States continues to trend towards a majority-minority population, organizations are finding themselves needing to address topics such as social inequalities, inclusion practices, and creating workplace cultures of acceptance. Those of us safety practitioners may be left wondering, exactly how does equity, diversity, and inclusion fit into the workplace safety world? This session will encourage participation and discussion as we cover EDI outcomes an organization can strive for, how these outcomes can impact workplace safety, and how to envelop safety management systems with an EDI lens.

By the end of our time together, participations should be able to:
  • Define the relationship between EDI and safety culture
  • Determine ways to localize research related to diversity and workplace safety
  • Discuss the current climate of EDI in our organizations
