GMA SHRM Day to Make a Difference
Friday and Saturday, July 15-16, 2011 The Greater Madison Area Chapter of SHRM , in partnership with Wisconsin SHRM State Council, is excited to promote the 2011 HR Professionals Volunteer Days and give back to our community! Our volunteer days are Friday, July 15th and/or Saturday, July 16th, 2011. Now is the time for you and/or your employer to partner with us to give back! Individuals or organizations can participate this event in the form of volunteer hours or financial support. This year, we have partnered with Meadowood Community Garden. The community garden is located in Meadowood Park on the southwest side of Madison. The garden was established in 2008 as part of a grassroots effort to address increases in crime, violence, vandalism and poverty in the area. In 2010, Meadowood Community Garden was awarded a Neighborhood Enhancement Grant by the City of Madison to help fund improvement projects. Recently, a mosaic stepping stone path was added to the garden and we will be assisting with installing a much-anticipated perimeter fence! We will also be assisting the garden with other necessary maintenance work that will help the garden to continue to provide for families. No experience is necessary! Please bring gloves, a water bottle and a smile! T-shirts will also be provided to all volunteers compliments of our sponsor Ultimate Software!
