Session 1

Workplace accommodation obligations continue to be some of the most confusing liabilty issues for businesses—and HR professionals are on the front lines.

This session, “Accommodations in the Workplace: The ADA, Religion and the PWFA,” provides a practical, up-to-date overview of employer responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title VII’s protections for religious accommodation under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the newer Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA).

Attendees of this program will learn:

  • An employer’s obligation for good faith interactive process participation
  • Practical examples of accommodations under all statutes
  • Best practices for all accommodation requests
  

Session 2

Brian and Storm return to the Aliant Energy Center once more to make sure HR professionals are up to date on a wide variety of employment law developments.  Bringing their usual energy and excitement, these attorneys will make sure that you not only know what the law says but are prepared to comply in practice.  Be ready to engage with your colleagues through a few different hypothetical situations so that you are ready if these legal issues come to your organization.


Attendees of this program will learn:

  • About changes to employment regulations and laws at the federal, state, and local levels
  • About existing legal issues that are becoming more relevant
  • How to put legal compliance into practice to benefit their organizations
SPEAKER BIO     SPEAKER BIO  

Ali Fisher began with EEOC in 2010 and was an Investigator for 13 years before stepping into her current role of Outreach and Education Coordinator. Ali has presented on numerous topics for EEOC, including harassment, Reasonable Accommodations, and Respectful Workplaces.  With a background in coaching and teaching, she is an experienced trainer dedicated to making dense and often difficult topics accessible and applicable to her audiences.
.		   Brian P. Goodman is an attorney and a member of the labor and employment and school law practice groups of Boardman Clark. He assists employers with a wide range of legal issues including, hiring, discipline, terminations, leave issues under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), accommodation issues under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and many other day-to-day matters.   Mr. Goodman is a frequent writer, presenter, and trainer on employment law matters. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School, magna cum laude, and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Mr. Goodman currently serves as Past President of the Wisconsin School Attorneys Association, and is a past VP on the GMA SHRM Board of Directors.


Storm B. Larson is an associate with Boardman Clark, Madison where his practice is primarily devoted to labor and employment law. Storm regularly counsels and litigates on behalf of his clients on all aspects of employment law. In his employment counseling practice, he takes a practical approach to help guide employers through difficult scenarios to help them avoid costly litigation and to resolve problems before they escalate. However, when problems do escalate and litigation cannot be avoided, he is experienced in litigating before state and federal courts and agencies. Storm also routinely speaks and presents on employment law issues to help educate human resources audiences on employment law topics.
