Presentation Description

Formerly known as the Wednesday In The Park, the new “My GMA SHRM Toolbox” sessions are geared to provide HR professionals at all levels an opportunity to further their learning in the core areas of Human Resources.  The Toolbox session is meant to be a facilitated & interactive discussion to assist in this learning experience.

This toolbox program will focus on employment law regulatory and statutory changes, and on court interpretations of employment laws affecting Wisconsin employers. The program will include an Immigration Law update to address the new Form I-9, the employee verification system called E-Verify, and the current status of the new social security no-match letter rules. The program will also discuss the new Wisconsin Supreme Court disability discrimination decisions under the WFEA, address the EEOC's revisions to its ADEA regulations, the December NLRB decision addressing employee use of the employer’s e-mail system for union-related solicitations, provide an FMLA update including the federal expansion of the FMLA (granting leave to care for injured members of the Armed Forces) and more.

Our Presenters - Grant Sovern and Lauri Morris, Quarles & Brady LLP

He also counsels companies on developing, maintaining, and defending immigration compliance programs.

Lauri Morris

She provides pro-active counseling to employers to ensure compliance with the myriad of employment laws such as the Wisconsin and federal FMLAs, the WFEA, FLSA, ADA, ADEA and Title VII, in addition to defending them against discrimination claims before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. She also advises businesses regarding employment contracts, non-compete and confidentiality agreements and severance agreements.
