Bill Schrum, SPHR

 

Presenter's Bio

 

Bill has been with the UW Health Physicians since July of 2001. He has been in health care and human resource management since 1975. During his career he has worked with hospitals, clinics, non-profit community health centers and the world’s largest for-profit international health system. As Director of International Human Resources for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), he and his family lived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for five years. During that time, Bill oversaw IHRM for HCA facilities in Singapore, Sydney, Panama, Brazil, London, Rome, Cairo, and Riyadh. Prior to entering healthcare, Bill owned and published the Lafayette ( Colorado) Times newspaper.

Bill did his undergraduate work in Economics at the University of Colorado; and did graduate work at the University of Colorado and the University of Denver. He has been a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) since 1981. He is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, the American Society of Healthcare Human Resource Administration, the American College of Medical Practice Executives, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Medical Group Management Association. In addition to serving on numerous boards and community organizations, he is a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and Disabled American Veterans. He has been published in numerous journals and has spoken internationally on healthcare and human resources issues and trends. He is a past-President of La Crosse SHRM and was Leadership Director for the Wisconsin State SHRM for two years.

His proven solutions are being put to use by executives, athletes, moms and dads, artists, teachers and numerous organizations throughout the globe.

As a professional speaker and consultant, Jon has infused energy into organizations such as The PGA Tour, The Jacksonville Jaguars, Wachovia Bank, Chubb Insurance, Cingular Wireless, GE, State Farm Insurance, The United Way and the Jacksonville Super Bowl Host Committee.

Jon has been featured in numerous television shows, magazines and newspapers including CNN’s American Morning, NBC’s Today Show, Men’s Health, Forbes and Positive Thinking. He is also the co-founder of PEP-The Positive Energy Program, a nonprofit 501c3 organization which creates and funds programs that develop healthy, positive children around the world. Jon is a graduate of Cornell University and holds a Masters in teaching from Emory University. He lives in Northeast Florida with his wife and two “high energy” children.

Dr. John S. Cwiklik is a member of Organization Development Consultants, Inc. (ODC) and additionally serves as an adjunct faculty member of the Organizational Behavior program at Edgewood College (Madison, WI). Dr. Cwiklik specializes in the area of appreciative inquiry and recently developed the five building blocks of Appreciative Management and is currently writing a book titled “Appreciative HR Management for the 21th Century”

Dr. Cwiklik possesses over twenty years of diverse professional experience as an internal and external consultant. Prior to joining ODC, he worked throughout the United States from New York to Hawaii and the Caribbean Islands of St. Croix and Grand Cayman as a General Manager, Director and Vice President of Human Resources for organizations in the Transportation, Hospitality and Construction industries.

Dr. Cwiklik’s professional interests include Human Resources & Organization Development with comprehensive generalist experience and special expertise in executive leadership, change management, strategic planning, employee relations, recruiting, retention, compensation and benefits. His areas of expertise when using appreciative inquiry include: creating cultures of superior customer service, organizational redesign and whole system change, large group interventions, the people side of mergers and acquisitions, appreciative right sizing, identifying strengths to facilitate leadership development and employee motivation.

Dr. Cwiklik’s terminal degree in Organization Development was earned at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. His master's degree in Human Resources Management is from Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu and his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. He is Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Society for Human Resource Management and a Registered Organization Development Professional (RODP) from the Organization Development Institute as well as a skilled Executive Coach. His publications include: “Managing Business and People in the Post September 11 Era”. Developing Metrics that Get Executives Attention

Jon Burton

 

Jon Burton is a Manager with Saratoga, a service offering of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Since joining Saratoga in 2001, Jon has helped many organizations develop and implement human capital measurement programs, led teams that redesigned and launched Saratoga's Human Capital Surveys and Reports, and was part of a team that designed and delivered custom surveys for Convergys and ADP. Additionally, Jon works with a number of clients to help them maximize their efforts in the data collection and interpretation process.

 

Jon began his professional career in Human Resources helping roll out a corporate wide affirmative action plan with Amdahl. In addition, Jon helped create custom surveys for Resumix and San Jose State University. Jon has worked with a broad range of clients including, ADP, Auto Club of Southern California, Baylor Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, Centerpoint Energy, Convergys, Methodist Healthcare, and the State of Wyoming. Jon received his B.S. and M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from San Jose State University.

Presenter's Bio

Pat Seidel brings 25 years of corporate experience to her writing and presentation skills workshops. The last six years of her career have focused expressly on written communication and presentation skills. In 2005, she launched Pat Seidel Training & Consultingand serves clients in this region and beyond.

 

Pat’s diverse background includes many years of experience assessing, designing, and presenting training. In her last position with Alliant Energy, Pat provided training and consulting services to the Sales and Service Organization, which included sales training. While at Alliant Energy, she gained a reputation as a respected trainer that knew how to bring fun into the classroom.

 

She is a popular speaker at state and regional conferences. She will present several topics on writing this year in Montreal at the International Meeting Planners Conference.

 

In college, she studied public speaking and English. She has completed advanced training in adult education theory from The Boulder Center for Accelerated Learning, Boulder, Colorado and also from The Center for Accelerated Learning, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

Fran has over 30 years of business experience in both healthcare management and leadership development. In addition to holding numerous executive positions in free-standing and system-based hospitals, Fran is recognized for guiding senior executive teams and individuals through times of significant change, including culture and team building initiatives and individual leadership development and coaching. Prior to Lee Hecht Harrison, Fran was Chief Executive Officer at several health care organizations and has years of healthcare management experience. In addition to his line responsibilities, he oversaw capital budget, strategic planning, and operations management, as well as institution affiliation initiatives.

Rich Sperling

 

Rich helps clients succeed by working with them to identify effective total remuneration strategies and turn those strategies into reality. He helps clients build the foundations for integrated performance management, career pathing, management development, succession planning and reward programs.

Rich has worked with many client during his career including Belden, Inc.; Case New Holland; Caterpillar Inc.; the Christian Reformed Church in North America; Deere & Company; Dow Chemical Company; Dow Corning Corporation; the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America; the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago; the Racine Unified School District; School District U-46; Toyota Financial Services; Toyota Motor Corporation; Toyota Motor Sales; and ZF Group.

Rich holds a Master of Management degree from Northwestern University, where he was an F.C. Austin Scholar and a Bachelor of Science degree from Yale University.

Before joining Hay in 1981, Rich was Organization and Compensation Specialist for Ford Motor Company's Finance Staff. Previous positions at Ford include Training Specialist and Industrial Relations Analyst.

Rich is a Certified Compensation Professional and a member of WorldatWork and the Chicago Compensation Association. He is a frequent speaker and author on job, organization and reward related subjects.

 

Dana Martin

 

Dana has consulted with a wide range of clients across several different sectors including the food sector, manufacturing sector and public sector. An overview of Dana’s client work is presented below.

Executive Compensation – Dana has worked with clients to design salary structures, short-term and long-term cash and equity based incentive plans, and perquisites plans.

Broad Based Compensation – Mr. Martin has partnered with clients to design market based salary structures for broad employee populations. Dana’s work also includes the design of broad based sales and management incentive plans.

Tax Exempt – Dana has worked with several counties and cities in the area of job measurement and pay equity analysis. Dana has also worked with tax exempt organizations to develop competitive/market based pay structures.

Dana partners with clients to provide customized compensation solutions. Mr. Martin works with clients to align employee compensation with key organizational goals creating balanced plans that recognize the needs of the employee and the organization.

Mr. Martin received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Business with concentrations in Finance and Strategy. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan with concentrations in Organizational Studies and Psychology.

Mark Royal

Mark is a Senior Consultant within Hay Group Insight, Hay Group’s employee and customer research division, where he works closely with clients in all aspects of survey projects, from initial planning and design through the effective use and communication of survey results. His particular areas of focus include linking survey data to business performance measures and using survey results to guide organizational change initiatives. Mark also plays a leading role in directing Hay Group’s annual research with Fortune magazine to identify the World’s and America’s Most Admired Companies and uncover the business practices that make these companies highly regarded and highly successful.

 

Mark’s clients have included the American College of Healthcare Executives, CalPERS, Corn Products International, Kos Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, and Qualcomm, among others.

 

Mark has over ten years of survey research experience. Before joining Hay Group, Mark was an Associate Practice Group Director with International Survey Research, a consulting firm specializing in employee and management opinion surveys. Prior to that he was an Associate Research Scientist at the American Institutes for Research.
