Human Resources professionals across industry sectors increasingly cite employee turnover and retention as major challenges in their respective organizations. Today’s competitive business climate including the high demand for employees with technical skills increases the pressure on firms to attract and retain quality employees.
Organizations readily commit time and resources to the hiring process (advertising, recruitment efforts, employment interviews, pre-employment background checks, drug screening). Investing in the employee selection process reaps many obvious rewards. Yet, what about when the employees leave the organization?
Exit interviews can be just as important as the interviews that were conducted when the employee was hired. Retention of talent often begins at the end of the process. In order to ensure truly effective exit interviews, a leader must establish a climate of trust long before s/he receives the letter of resignation.
This presentation will feature a discussion of the case for exit interviews, establishing the link between recruitment, retention and the exit interview, as well as importance of equipping managers with the interviewing tools they can use to become more talent focused.
