SUBJECT: Call for Nominations for 2008-2009 Board of Directors
As a valued member of GMA SHRM, your participation in the selection of your Board of Directors is critical to our chapter’s success. Therefore, the Nominations Committee respectfully seeks your assistance in identifying potential candidates for your Board of Directors.
Nominations are being accepted for these 2008-2009 term board positions (click on title for description):
*Vice President, Programming
*Vice President, Membership
*Vice President , Communications and Marketing
*Director, Government Affairs (NEW position)
*Director, Education & Professional Development
*Director, Workforce Readiness & Diversity
*Secretary/Treasurer
*President Elect
Criteria Used for Nominations
The committee will use the following criteria in considering nominated candidates:
- Interest and ability to fulfill the obligations of office, in the capacity indicated
- Experience outlined in a letter of interest and resume, including leadership and management experience
- Verbal responses to the questions posed during the interview process
- Demonstrated support/alignment of GMA SHRM values
- Must be a GMA SHRM member in good standing
- Other considerations that indicate that a candidate is uniquely qualified to serve on the Board of Directors.
Application/Nomination Process
The nominations committee welcomes you to nominate yourself or another GMA SHRM member.
- To nominate yourself for a Board of Directors position, send a letter of interest and resume to Cassy Van Dyke by email.
- To nominate another GMA SHRM member, please contact anyone on the Nominating Committee:

All applications must be received by e-mail to Cassy Van Dyke
no later than 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2008.
The Nominating Committee will be recommending a "Slate of Candidates" to the membership. The committee will recommend one candidate per position to the membership. The elected candidates will take office on July 1, 2008.
The Board of Directors is made up of 11 members. The current President, Anthony Dix, will become the Past-President and current President-Elect, Cassy Van Dyke, will be named the 2008-2009 GMA SHRM President.
Serving on the Board is a rewarding experience. There are many benefits of being a Board member. I would encourage anyone that wants to play a larger role in the future of GMA SHRM to consider applying. It’s an opportunity to work with a great group of leaders towards a meaningful mission.
