Topic: Performance Evaluation Training Ideas?

Post: Wondering if anyone has done anything "fun" with their annual rollout for Performance Evaluations with their leaders? We were thinking a "skit" or a game of some kind. Anyone have any ideas to make this a little "lighter" for the leaders? Thanks a TON!

Posted Reply: This year, we're giving three "sample" performance reviews to our managers and team leaders: Elliot Exceptional, Annie Average, and Scott Notsohot. We hope it will help them better understand how to fill out the forms based on the different employee scenarios.

Another thought: what about a brainstorming session so leaders can show off their management skills? Come up with a list of common problems that need to be addressed during performance reviews (attendance, quality or quantity of work, attention to detail, follow-through, initiative, knowledge, etc.) and ask everyone to share their best solutions for those problems, then make a list and distribute to managers. It might help them to have a bunch of ideas in their pockets for how to effectively set goals and milestones for the employees who may not be doing as well as others.

They could also brainstorm ways to keep really good workers challenged and engaged, because that may be something that their employees ask for during reviews.
