As my term as Co-President is winding down, and my role on the Board transitions from Secretary/Treasurer to Past President, I want to encourage anyone who has an interest in serving on the Board to consider applying for one of our open positions. The experience I have gained as a member of the Board has helped me in both my professional and personal life. I feel more confident in my job and feel I am more well-rounded as an employee, which will help in what ever direction my career takes me in. The people I have met within our chapter and from around the state are great and I know I have people I will stay in touch with long after my role on the Board is complete.

We are currently recruiting for three Board positions - Director, Education & Development, Vice President - Membership, and Secretary/Treasurer.

As Director, Education & Development, you will be working with many internal members and student chapters. You will be responsible for managing the scholarship program, professional development activities and college outreach efforts. Your role will include activities associated with the PHR/SPHR certification process and encouraging members to become certified. Dan Stahl is currently in this role, and we want to thank him for all his accomplishments over the last two years!

The Vice President of Membership's main responsibilities are in the areas of membership interaction, orientation and recognition. This group is the first point of contact for new members and helps to get all members more involved in the organization. Sue Estes has been in this position for 1 ½ years and is being slatted to move into the President Elect position. She has done a great job with this committee and will continue to be a great resource for the person who looks to take on this role.

The Secretary/Treasurer is responsible for the overall financial results of the chapter. You will work very closely with our chapter management team, MDS, in preparing the yearly budget and analyzing financial results on a monthly basis. This position is also responsible for taking the minutes at the monthly Board meetings. I currently hold this position but will be moving into the Past President role for the next fiscal year. It will be a nice transition for me to work with the new Secretary/Treasurer for the next year, as I will continue to be a member of the Board.
