By Stephanie Kimball, GMA SHRM Co-President
2004 had a
very busy finish for Laura and myself as we took on our new role
as Co-Presidents. Our first order of business was to fill the
two open board positions. The Director of Communications and Marketing
was a position that we redesigned as Laura vacated her board position
and moved into the Co-President role. We are very excited about
the synergy we will gain by aligning the Communications and Marketing
groups under the same Director. The second position was the Director
of Workforce Readiness and is a newly created position. It will
focus on two main areas - Community and Diversity. Both areas
have been important to us in the past but have never had the dedicated
focus this specific position can provide. This group needs your
assistance to get started, so please complete the Community Volunteer
Survey that was recently sent to you by email. We need your participation
to make this program successful!
We would like
to introduce Cassy Barbic, SPHR as our new Director of Communications
and Marketing. Cassy was formerly the Co-Chair of the Communications
Committee and has been instrumental in getting the new and improved
HR Link (now HR InTouch) up and running. Cassy currently works
for the UW Medical Foundation as the Learning and Development
Consultant. She also spent the last few months studying for the
SPHR exam and recently passed the test!
We would like
to introduce Debra Martinez, SPHR as our new Director of Workforce
Readiness. Debra has recently taken a new role as the Site Manager
for Phillips Medical Systems. She has a broad HR background with
a lot of great experience that we are sure will be a benefit to
the organization by selecting her for this role.
Please join
me in congratulating both Cassy and Debra on their new roles.
We are very excited they have agreed to join us, and we look forward
to hearing updates from them and their committees very soon!
I hope the
beginning of 2005 has been as productive for you as it has been
for Laura and myself. We are have a lot more to accomplish over
the next six months and will continue to communicate our progress!
